A lot of actors change their name to sell themselves in Hollywood (like Thomas Mapother the Fourth changed his name to Tom Cruise), especially if their names are unusual or difficult to pronounce (like Krasinski) to something a lot more common (like Collins), so he’s just being sarcastic. He hasn’t changed his name.
